About the Company:
It’s been more than ten years that Maman Kangourou has been committed to many different humanitarian organizations that work with young families in need. The results have been incredible and many of these families have been able to take advantages of our workshops and our baby carriers that we have donated, but with your help, we are convinced that we can go further !
The mission of “Babies Helping Babies” campaign is providing new families in need with a gently used baby carrier. By sending your lightly used baby carrier (all brands of baby carriers will be accepted), we can redistribute them to families in need in Canada as well as in countries in need and give a second life to the product. This baby carrier will help create confidence in young parents, which is crucial for families in need and will play an important role in the development of the child.
For us, baby carriers create a significant bond between a parent and child. It allows an infant to connect with their parent during their everyday activities, and provides a sense of security through the shared feeling of their heart beats, and the soothing sound of a parent’s voice. This sense of security and parent-child bonding is especially important to disadvantaged families and can play a significant role in a child’s development. New mothers need as much emotional support as newborns need them, therefore join us and our campaign and let “Babies helping babies” make a difference!
About the Product:
Maman Kangarou sent me Amerigo Plus Stretchy Wrap in Navy. This retails for $83.00 plus an additional fee (not specified on the website) to have it made in a “regular” sized Amerigo Stretchy Wrap color. Since I’m a fuller figured person, I thought it would be best to go with the Plus size.
The material reminds me of a thicker yoga pant material. The website doesn’t verify the material, but this would be my guess.
6,3 meters of slightly stretchy fabric in one size to adapt to all wearers and babies. Ideal for longer baby carrying periods, it distributes the weight across both shoulders. Can be used with babies from birth up to 35 pounds (16kg), depending on the wearer’s endurance. The pouch is a decorative element that makes finding the center of the wrap a snap and can hold small items, like a diaper or a bib. Its wrapping remains the same no matter which position, for the simplest of uses!
I really enjoyed wearing the Maman Kangarou wrap. It was easy to use and figure out. I’ve never wrapped a wrap before, but I was able to figure it out without instructions – although they sent an instruction sheet with photos.
The material is a breathable but thick enough fabric that would make parent + baby comfortable during warm months but still feel secure enough to hold the toddler.
My only slight issue is that the Plus size wrap just made it around my body shape, and by no means do I feel like mothers being Plus would be my size or smaller. Does that make sense? I feel like I’m not at the top of the Plus size spectrum. Maybe I was doing something wrong.
Maybe I was doing something wrong; so I’m not going to fault Maman Kangarou until I know for sure it wasn’t my fault. I need to do some more research on the ways to tie a wrap!
Anyways – I think the wrap is perfect for anyone new to babywearing, as it’s easy to understand and there’s not a lot of little pieces to fiddle with.
