G’Day from Australia! I’m just kidding. I wish
Your favorite witch is at it again! Sabrina Down Under is a 1 hour and 27 minute long movie about Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman, visiting the Great Barrier reef in Australia. Itching to learn more about Marine biology, she travels to this amazing place with her fellow witch friend Gwen, as well as Salem (voiced by Nick Bakay) a mischievous warlock doing penance as a black cat.
While on a mission to learn marine biology, Sabrina meets a handsome merman and his mermaid sister who fell ill due to ocean pollution. Sabrina strays away from learning marine biology and focuses on saving The Great Barrier reef, which hides a mermaid colony. Dr. Julian Martin is on Sabrina’s tail, determined to uncover this colony as his claim to fame. Sabrina begins to develop a friendship with Barnaby (the handsome merman) Aren’t all mermen handsome? Salem the cat begins to develop a relationship with Hilary, another witch-turned-into-cat situation.
In attempt to protect the colony from Dr.Martin, Sabrina casts a spell that creates a storm to keep him stuck in port. The spell soon backfires when a lightning bolt strikes and knocks her unconscious which in turn leaves her temporarily powerless.
“Sabrina Down Under” is the sequel to “Sabrina Goes to Rome” and is the product of the hit television series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” which started in 1999. As a fellow marine lover myself, this movie was definitely entertaining and suspenseful to watch!
“Sabrina Down Under” also has a book version! Although there’s no physical visuals, I may just read it because I love marine life that much.
If you love Sabrina the witch, Salem the cat AND marine life, this movie is definitely a match for you!
